Court Acquits 13 in 2023 Murder of Dalit Man Citing a Lack of Evidence

A special court in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday acquitted 13 people in connection with the murder of a Dalit man in 2023, citing lack of evidence.
BHOPAL/SAGAR:
The court acquitted the main accused, Komal Thakur, Vijay Thakur, and Vikram Thakur—all from upper caste communities—and 10 others, from the charges of murder, rioting, and atrocities in the absence of evidence.
Special court judge Pradeep Soni said, "The accused are acquitted of the charges, giving them the benefit of doubt."
