Drug peddler arrested after encounter with police in Haridwar

HARIDWAR: A drug peddler was arrested after an encounter with police in sub-urban Jwalapur in Haridwar on Thursday, officials said.

According to senior superintendent of police (SSP), Haridwar district, Pramendra Dobhal, acting on a major tip off, police carried out patrolling at Pull Jatwada, in sub-urban Jwalapur adjacent to Ganga Canal around 1am on Wednesday night.

He said seeing police team, two bike-borne suspects fired at them. In retaliation, police chased them as they fled towards Ganga Canal Regulator bridge stretch, Dobhal said.
