Police file FIR after India Gate protest on pollution, dogs

A day after hundreds of people staged a protest at India Gate against rising air pollution and the Supreme Court's recent ruling on stray dogs, the Delhi Police filed an FIR against some of the protesters for "violating police orders" and "disturbing law and order," officials said on Monday.

According to police, on Saturday, a day before the protest, additional DCP Anand Kumar Mishra had written to the organisers, directing them to shift the demonstration to Jantar Mantar due to security and traffic concerns at India Gate. However, on Sunday evening, several environmentalists and animal rights activists gathered at the site. Heavy police forces were deployed, and clashes broke out after police began detaining protesters.
