No closure yet, but schools see dip in attendance

Though the Directorate of Education (DoE) has not ordered the closure of schools in Delhi—unlike Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan where escalations in the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan has led to closure of schools—several of them reported slightly low attendance, especially in junior grades, according to school officials.

Both government and private schools are already heading towards summer vacations, but anxious parents demand early closure in view of the conflict.
"About 60% attendance was recorded on an average in the lower classes. For classes 9 to 12, they had assessments so attendance was almost full. Our school is closing for summer vacation from Saturday," Sanjay Yadav, principal of Ahlcon International School in Mayur Vihar, Phase 1, said.
