MCD Approves Property Tax Amnesty, Review of User Fee

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday approved the rollout of a one-time amnesty scheme to provide relief to all property owners with long-standing tax dues.
NEW DELHI:
A private member resolution seeking the suspension of garbage user charges was also passed during the general house meeting.
Under Sumpattikar Niptaan Yojana (SUNIYO), the civic body will waive all arrears before 2020-2021, including interest and penalties. The scheme will run from June 1 to September 30, allowing all taxpayers—residential, commercial, and unauthorized properties—to pay the principal amount of property tax of the current year (2025-26) and the previous five years (2020-21 onwards) in one go, after which their arrears prior to 2020-21 will be waived off.
