Girl beaten to death over writing name of lover in henna

MEERUT: A 17-year-old girl was beaten to death by her father with astick in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district on Tuesday morning, after the accused caught her talking to the person she was reportedly in a relationship with ‘on the phone, and noticed his name written in henna on her hand, police officers aware of the case said.

The incident took place at around 1am on Tuesday in Sootnera village under the jurisdiction of Roza police station. The accused lived there with his son and daughter-in-law, anda teenage daughter, the officers said.

The accused's son had gone out for workwhile the daughter-in-law ‘was washing clothes outside the house when the incident took place. His daughter was alone inside the house and wasallegedly speaking on the phone, they added.
