Delhi school girl raises ₹2 lakh for stray canines by selling organic soaps

A nine-year-old girl in Delhi has turned compassion into action one bar of soap at a time. Sifat, a student of Step by Step School, grew up in an environment that values both empathy and enterprise, as her parents are self-employed. What began as a small effort in 2024 has now evolved into a sustained city-impact initiative supporting street-animal welfare.

Her journey started with a modest ₹9,000, raised by selling eco-friendly, handmade soaps and donated to Neighbourhood Woof, an organisation focused on sterilisation and anti-rabies immunisation of stray dogs. During a visit there, Sifat met Phoenix, a resilient two-legged dog who inspired her to scale up her idea as Phoenix by Sifat. By Diwali 2024, she had raised ₹1 lakh, covering two months of medicinal costs for sterilisation drives.
