AQI improves after wind picks up; Grap 3 revoked

The air quality in the Capital improved on Monday due to faster wind speeds, prompting the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to lift Stage 3 measures of the Graded Response Action Plan (Grap) with immediate effect in the National Capital Region (NCR).
NEW DELHI:
The 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) on Monday was 286 in the "poor" category -- as against 326 (very poor) on Sunday, according to the 4pm bulletin of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
CAQM, in a statement, said that an improvement in the mixing height and ventilation coefficient had helped in dispersion of pollutants.
Grap Stage 3 was last imposed on January 29, when the AQI reading was 365 (very poor). The Supreme Court last year ordered that Grap Stage 3 measures be put in place when the average AQI crosses the 350-mark.
