Avoid premature conclusions on crash, probe far from over: AI CEO

After a weekend of elaborate discussions among the aviation community on the preliminary report on AF-I71 crash that Kilied 260 people, Air India chief executive officer (CEO) Campbell Wilson in an internal memo to his employees on Monday said the probe into the June 12 incident was far from over and itis unwise to jump to any premature conclusions. He asserted that the report found no mechanical or maintenance issues with the aircraft or engines.

“The release of the Preliminary Report marked the point at which we, along with the world, began receiving additional details about what took place. Unsurprisingly, it provided both greater clarity and ‘opened additional questions,” Wilson's mail, seen by HT, said.

The CEO said that the report “also triggered a new round of speculation in the media.”
