Former Bhopal MP Pragya Singh Thakur on Sunday stirred controversy with her remarks exhorting parents to “physically punish or break the legs of their disobedient daughters who choose to marry non-Hindu’, with the Opposition accusing the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader of spreading hatred.
“If our daughter attempts to marry a non-Hindu, we should spare no effort, even breaking their legs.Those who disobey traditions must be punished,” Thakur was purportedly quoted as saying ina video of an event held in Bhopal.
