Massive protests across cities, over 40 detained

Over 40 people were detained as massive protests rocked Kolkata, Chennai and Ahmedabad after the passage of the contentious Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, in the Parliament, officials said on Friday.
NEW DELHI:
The bill was passed by the Lok Sabha early on Thursday and received the Rajya Sabha nod in the wee hours on Friday after a lengthy 13-hour debate.
