The two men, who entered the house of a senior government official posing as air conditioner servicemen and slit the throat of his wife after looting her gold jewellery in Indira Nagar area on Wednesday, had been planning the crime for over a week before they executed it.

The victim, Shashi Pandey, sustained grievous injuries after being attacked with a sharp weapon and underwent treatment at a private hospital.

"For the last three days, someone was ringing the bell around 1:30pm. But when the door would be opened, no one would be there. This happened for three consecutive days, after which we thought it were children in the neighborhood playing pranks," said the victim’s nephew Ashutosh.
