Day temps above normal in several parts, says IMD

NEW DELHI: Daytime temperatures have been above normal by 3 to 6 degree C in several parts of northwest, central and east India over the past two days, data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) showed on Wednesday.
According to the data, some stations are recording maximum temperatures over six degrees above normal. This is indicating a gradual shift in the season and an early arrival of spring.
Data showed that day temperatures were markedly above normal (5°C or more) over some parts of north Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand; appreciably above normal (3°C to 5°C) over remaining parts of northwest, central India and adjoining east India; and above normal (1°C to 3°C) over north peninsular India.
In the last 24 hours, night temperatures have increased by 1-3°C over many parts of western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, eastern Rajasthan, Gujarat region, northeast Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, the IMD said in its bulletin on Wednesday.
