Our party will never support even if our leaders commit such acts that hurts anyone's sentiment MADAN RATHORE, Rajasthan BJP chief

- HT Correspondent

JAIPUR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will never support any act that hurts religious sentiment, party state president Madan Rathore said, a day after Balmukundacharya, BJP MLA from Jaipur's Hawa Mahal, was booked for putting up posters that read "Pakistan Murdabad" and raising religious slogans at the premises of the Jama Masjid in the city's Johari Bazaar area during a protest against the Pahalgam terror attack.

"No BJP worker should do anything like this. Our party will never support even if our leaders commit such acts that hurts anyone's sentiment. This is a time when we need to stay united. This incident (the Pahalgam terror attack) is not a matter of politics but policies," Rathore said during a press conference on Sunday.

Referring to the protest that erupted on Friday late night in reaction to the BJP MLA's action, he further said: "Upon receiving the information, I immediately called the MLA. He assured me that he went to stop the workers who went towards the mosque. But my question is why would even there be a situation when you have to stop someone? They shouldn't have entered the mosque and intimidate anyone. Everybody has their own belief and they should be allowed to exercise them freely."
