NEW DELHI:

Shortly after Parliament reconvened on Monday as the second part of the Budget session began, DMK MPs staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha over the issue of delimitation and New Education Policy (NEP).

In Lok Sabha too, the MPs walked into the well of the House and protested as Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in his address in the lower house of Parliament accused the DMK of being "dishonest" and playing "politics" at the cost of Tamil Nadu students' future.

Trinamool Congress member demanded action against the Election Commission, alleging the poll body had "failed" to conduct fair and transparent elections over the past few years.

Speaking during the Zero Hour in the lower house, he said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had first flagged the issue of numerous instances of "duplicate" voter cards and the explanation given by the Election Commission was a clear breach of the Conduct of Election Rules itself.

DMK MP P Wilson said that the DMK party staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha after deputy chairman Harivansh refused to allow a discussion on "fair" delimitation of Lok Sabha seats.
