UK GOVT SAYS IT'S READY TO DEPLOY PEACEKEEPING TROOPS IN UKRAINE

Britain said it was ready to send peacekeeping troops to back up any peace deal for Ukraine as European leaders gathered on Monday to agree a unified strategy.
KYIV/RIYADH: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday dismissed planned talks between the US and Russia on ending the war in Ukraine, reiterating that Kyiv should be involved in any discussions about its own future.
His comments came as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Saudi Arabia ahead of the high-stakes talks between American and Russian officials which have spurred Ukraine's concerns that it could be left out of a peace process.
The talks, scheduled for Tuesday in Riyadh, mark another pivotal step by the Trump administration to reverse US policy on isolating Russia, and are meant to pave the way for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Ukraine will not take part. Ukraine did not know anything about it," Zelensky told reporters in a virtual briefing from the United Arab Emirates, where he was on a state visit.
