Maoists Kill 2 in Bijapur on Suspicion of Being Informers

Maoists allegedly hacked two men, one of them their colleague, at a village in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on suspicion of being police informers, an official aware of the incident said on Tuesday.

He said the incident took place on Monday night in Bugdi village of Bijapur district. A group of unidentified Maoists went to the village, dragged Raju (32) and Madvi (27) out of their houses and slit their throats, killing both of them, the official said.

He added that villagers alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem, he said.

According to an official, a report issued by the Jagarguda area committee of Maoists found at the spot indicated that the two deceased were acting as police informers. Raju was once a Maoist who later surrendered and was leading a normal life in the village, he added.
