Rescue goes awry, cop abducted man killed

An assistant sub-inspector of special armed force (SAF) was allegedly killed and 10 other personnel sustained injuries on Saturday, when a police team tried to rescue a man abducted by the villagers over his involvement in an accident, in Mauganj district of Madhya Pradesh, police said, adding the abducted man, too, was also found dead later.

The incident took place in Gadra village, about 25 km from the Mauganj district headquarters, when the family of one Ashok Kol, who died in an accident two months ago, abducted Sunny Dwivedi (24) and beat him up for alleged involvement in the case.
