Mayawati Appoints Nephew as BSP's Chief National Coordinator

Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati on Sunday reposed faith in her nephew as she appointed Akash Anand as the party's chief national coordinator, with the move that effectively reinstates Anand as number two in the BSP coming over two months after he was expelled from the party only to be inducted him back within weeks.

Anand's appointment to the top organisational post came during a special all-India meeting of BSP coordinators held at the party central's office in New Delhi.

"The national president (Mayawati) has appointed Akash Anand as the party's chief national coordinator. He has been informed about the future programmes of the party. It is expected that he would now work in the interests of the party and the movement and work carefully to make significant contribution towards strengthening the party," the BSP said in a statement following the meeting.
