Durgapur survivor's father apologises to CM after sixth arrest

The father of the 23-year-old medical student, who was allegedly raped in a forested area near her college campus in Durgapur last week, apologised to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday for the comments he earlier made on the police investigation.
“If [have made any comment then I apologise to Mamata Banerjee. The police carried out an investigation and arrested the suspects,” he told local media in the afternoon when his daughter’s classmate, the sixth suspect, was remanded in police custody for seven days by the Durgapur court.
“The only thing that matters to me is my daughter's life,” the victim’s father added on Wednesday.
