While four people of a family died in Haldwani after their car fell into a canal, another man lost his life after his car plunged into the Gori River in Pithoragarh district. In another incident, an 8-year-old girl died after a wall collapsed on her.
Four members of a family, including a newborn child, died after their car fell into a canal near Rampur Road in Haldwani city in Nainital district of Uttarakhand on Wednesday morning amid heavy rain, a police officer aware of the matter said, adding that three others were injured.
Haldwani Superintendent of Police (SP) Prakash Chandra said the family, after the birth of the child at Sushila Tiwari Hospital on June 22, was returning home to Kichha town when the car went out of control due to waterlogging and fell into the canal.
