Over 1.8 Million Pensioners Remain Unverified in Raj

BARMER: More than 18 lakh pension beneficiaries in Rajasthan are still awaiting biometric verification, raising concerns over potential delays in pension distribution. According to government data, as of January 31, 2025, a total of 91.24 lakh individuals are registered under the Social Security Pension Scheme. However, only 73.08 lakh pensioners have completed the biometric verification process, leaving 18.12 lakh still unverified. The state government has assured that efforts are underway to expedite the process and prevent disruptions in pension payments.

This data was disclosed in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in response to an unstarred question raised by MLA Harimohan Sharma during the third session of the 16th Assembly. Sharma sought details on the total number of pension beneficiaries, the number of those who had undergone biometric verification, and the count of those still awaiting the process.
