Nursery student dies in Prayagraj, FIR of culpable homicide lodged

PRAYAGRAJ: A three-and-a-half-year-old nursery student died in Prayagraj on Thursday, allegedly after he was beaten by two teachers of the school where he studied, police said on Friday, referring to a complaint by the parents of the boy.

An FIR was lodged on the complaint of the boy's father at the Naini police station against two unidentified persons under Section 105 (culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Deputy commissioner of police (Trans Yamuna) Vivek Chandra Yadav said the parents of the child had claimed in the written complaint that two teachers of the school had assaulted the boy leading to his death. The post-mortem report shows a cut on the eyebrow, besides an injury on the tongue, the DCP added.

"The complaint submitted by parents of the deceased child did not have any mention of any sexual assault. However, the PM report indicates towards an injury on his private parts, in light of which a sexual assault cannot be ruled out. We will be investigating all angles in this case and will also scan CCTV footage of cameras in and around the school," he added.
