Govt Releases Report on 2.2K Plant Species

In its bid to protect the Himalayan flora, the Uttarakhand forest department's research wing on Friday released its annual report on conserved plant species, listing 2,228 plant species that have been conserved in the state, officials aware of the matter said.
DEHRADUN:
These plant species have been conserved through in-situ and ex-situ conservation measures across seven different forest ranges of its research wing (Haldwani, Jeolikote, Ranikhet, Pithoragarh, Gopeshwar, Dehradun, and Uttarkashi), they added. Ex-situ means conservation of species outside their natural habitats, while in-situ means conservation of species in the same habitat where they are found.
