Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday slammed the INDIA blocand its constituent Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing the Opposition grouping of “encouraging infiltration to serve their political interests” as he urged the people of West Bengal to oust the Mamata Banerjee-led party during the assembly polls next year

- Tanmay Chatterjee

“Developed nations are waging war against infiltrators. Our country will not tolerate infiltrators anymore. Shouldn'tthey be driven out? Who can free Bengal of infiltrators?... Cast your votes and infiltrators will flee,” Modi said while addressing rally at Dum Dumin North 24 Parganas district.

He added: “The government of India has launched a drive against infiltrators, but, TMC and some parties in the INDIA coalition are encouraging infiltration to serve their political interests... they have surrendered to infiltrators.”

He further alleged that West Bengal’s demography is changing, posing a threat to the state's social fabric. “Land owned by Bengal’s farmers and tribal people are being forcefully occupied. Our country will not tolerate this,” he said, reiterating the commitment hemade during his Independence Day address to tackle the infiltration crisis affecting the country.

“Those who have settled down here by procuring forged documents must go. TMC has to go too so that this job can be done with utmost sincerity.”
