NO PARTY WROTE TO BOYCOTT JPC ON 3 BILLS TO UNSEAT JAILED MINISTERS, SAYS LS SPEAKER

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said on Saturday that no political party has formally conveyed to him their decision to boycott the proposed Joint Committee of Parliament (JPC) to examine the three bills that bar any minister, chief minister or prime minister from holding the position after getting arrested.
“On the issue of JPC, no political party has communicated to me in writing on this subject,” Birla told reporters in Bengaluru.
The LS Speaker's response comes weeks after at least four parties — the Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Aam Aadmi Party — declared that they will not be part of the committee, while the Congress is yet to open its cards on the issue.
