Heatwave continues; IMD predicts some relief ahead

The maximum temperature continued to run high on Wednesday with the city recording its third consecutive "heatwave" day of the season.
NEW DELHI: However, it was the first time that the city saw a "warm night" as the minimum temperature rose sharply to 25.6°C — the highest April minimum in three years.
The city, however, might see some relief from Thursday, with an approaching western disturbance likely to bring overcast skies and chances of isolated drizzle in the region, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Delhi is also expected to see strong surface winds of 30-40 km/hr during the day — gusting up to 50km/hr, which will help bring down mercury, officials said.
Wednesday's minimum was six degrees above normal and significantly warmer than Tuesday's 22.4°C. It was the highest minimum since April 30, 2022 (25.7°C).
