Sambhal Jama Masjid committee president Zafar Ali, who was arrested in connection with the violence that broke out during a survey of the mosque in November 2024, walked out of jail on Friday after receiving bail.
The Allahabad high court, on July 24, granted bail to Ali, who was arrested on March 23 on charges of inciting violence during the survey. Ali's initial bail plea was rejected by a sessions court, following which his family moved the Allahabad high court. Following his release, Ali told reporters, “The statement for which I went to jail has now become irrelevant. The rest of the legal battle will be fought in the courtroom.”
