Wet spell likely in Valley from tomorrow, says MeT

The J&K weather office (MeT) has predicted a two-day moderate wet spell in Jammu and Kashmir from Wednesday amid a prolonged dry spell in the valley leading to dry springs and low water level in river Jhelum.

There has been no major rain or snowfall in February so far while the harshest winter period of Chilai Kalan from December 21, 2024 to January 30, 2025 recorded a 75% deficit precipitation, according to MeT.

The lack of enough rains or snowfall has caused the water sources in the valley to dry up with Jhelum witnessing one of the lowest water levels while there have also been multiple cases of forest fires.
