But this time, those tricks seem to be falling flat. His base, usually loyal to a fault, is growing restless over Trump's past ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The issue has resurfaced with force, and this time it’s not Democrats driving the scrutiny. It's his own supporters, demanding answers the former president is dodging.

Despite Trump's usual playbook, scolding reporters, downplaying the issue, and launching into unrelated political attacks, the Epstein story isn’t going away. And unlike past scandals like Russia or impeachment, the pressure is coming from within the MAGA universe itself.

“For a president and an administration that’s very good at controlling a narrative, this is one that’s been harder,” said Republican strategist Erin Maguire, a former Trump campaign spokeswoman.
