Israel's attack on Iran is 'akin to what Russia did to Ukraine': Omar

Says its impact will be on fuel prices, stock market and flights
SRINAGAR: J&K political leaders have raised concern over Israel launching an attack on Iran "without any provocation and mocking the big powers for remaining silent".
J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah equated the attack on Iran by Israel "akin to that of Ukraine by Russia and said why is the world silent".
"Israel did the same thing that Russia did to Ukraine. Iran didn't give any major reason to Israel for this attack. The world powers raise their voices against Russia and start a campaign against Russia. And when Israel did the same thing, the big powers like the US and European countries remained silent. If Russia is wrong then Israel is also wrong," Omar told reporters.
He said, "It's going to escalate and will have an immediate impact on us. Its impact will be on fuel prices, stock market, flights; it also has an impact on the sentiment of the people."
Former J&K chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said today's attack was a "brazen act by a state".
"The silence of the global community, particularly western powers led by the United States, is both alarming and telling. This silence amounts to tacit approval. In the case of India-Pakistan tensions, the US never fails to assert that its intervention has been crucial in preventing escalation," Mehbooba Mufti wrote on X.
SRINAGAR: The Israeli attack over Iran has triggered panic across the student community studying in Iran and their families back in India, including J&K, with the majority of them demanding evacuation from the region.
