Under fire head of utilities firm quits amid slew of failures, anger and fines

THE boss of the utilities giant which owns South West Water has quit her role.

Susan Davy has decided to retire from the Pennon Group board and as highly-paid chief executive.

Ms Davy has recently come under fire after a string of PR disasters for the company.

Last year a cryptosporidium outbreak in Brixham left more than 100 people saying they were ill, and earlier this year thousands of residents in the north of Plymouth were left without water for several days. Just last month Pennon announced it had made a £72.7 million loss and last week water watchdog Ofwat told SWW to make £24m of improvements after sewage failings.

Several South West MPs had written to Ms Davy demanding she give what they described as a £200,000 “bonus” to customers.
