Dismissed officer hits out after it was ruled he gave a 'misleading' account

A DECORATED police sergeant with more than 20 years' service has been dismissed for gross misconduct after a panel found he gave a "deliberately misleading" account in an attempt to avoid a speeding fine.
Tim Perrin, formerly of Devon and Cornwall Police, was dismissed without notice after a two-day misconduct hearing concluded he had breached standards of honesty and integrity in his response to a notice of intended prosecution.
The hearing, held last week, centred on Mr Perrin's justification for speeding while driving to Plymouth in August 2023.
He claimed he had been responding to an urgent staffing crisis and received a message urging him to arrive quickly. A speed camera later recorded him travelling at 48mph in a 30mph zone.
