£6k support for golf events to get men talking about mental health

A NEWTON Abbot housing developer has pledged monthly support for a local mental health initiative that’s turning the fairway into a safe haven for struggling men.

Baker Estates has given £6,000 to the Bro-Project, a community interest organisation launched by Matt Peterson during the Covid-19 pandemic. It uses golf range nights and other activities to encourage men to open up about their mental health.
Up to 200 men a month now take part in free relaxed gatherings centred on sport and social connection.
Mr Peterson said: “The aim is to give men a safe space to hang out and talk if they want to.
