Slight drop in temperature as UAE receives heavy rainfall
Gulf Today
|June 25, 2026
Moderate to heavy rains fell on separate areas across the Eastern Region on Wednesday, especially on Shawka Road, Al Watan Street and Wadi Al Helo, leading streams and valleys to flow and waterfalls to form on the mountain slopes.
Videos and photos circulating online showed heavy rainfall on the Shawka Road, with water covering parts of the mountain roads, amid cloudy weather and a relative drop in temperature compared to previous days.
The footage also documented the flow of water in the valleys and ravines located along the roads, with the flow of torrents coming from the mountain highlands, in addition to the formation of seasonal waterfalls that attracted a number of visitors to enjoy the rainy weather.
The region witnessed a noticeable movement of locals and visitors who flocked to the mountainous sites to follow the rains and enjoy the rainy summer atmosphere, while a number of them were keen to stop in safe areas to take photos and document the natural scenery.
The weather on Thursday is expected to be clear to partly cloudy and some cumulus clouds are likely to form in the east, possibly accompanied by rains in the afternoon but will be humid in the morning in some coastal and inland areas with a chance of light fog, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
