Sadiq offers to resolve government-PTI political deadlock

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, a senior leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has announced his willingness to mediate between the ruling coalition and the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in an effort to break the ongoing political deadlock.

According to parliamentary sources, several PTI lawmakers have been meeting the speaker informally in recent weeks, encouraging him to play a role in fostering national reconciliation.

Backchannel Contacts and Growing Momentum Reports suggest that discreet backchannel engagements have improved the prospects for formal dialogue between the government and PTI. The majority of PTI parliamentarians - including some who have recently been convicted - are said to favour initiating structured negotiations.
