Jaishankar to attend Khaleda Zia's funeral today

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will represent the government and people of India at the funeral of Khaleda Zia, former prime minister of Bangladesh and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), who passed away in Dhaka, on Tuesday.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Jaishankar will be visiting Dhaka on Wednesday to attend the funeral of the late leader.
Khaleda Zia passed away early Tuesday morning after a prolonged illness at the age of 80, the BNP party confirmed. According to a statement issued by her party, she died at around 6am at the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where she had been undergoing treatment for over a month.
