Dubai court upholds fines for two Asians in fraud case

DUBAI: The Dubai Appellate Court upheld the ruling of the Court of First instance convicting two Asians, and sentenced each of them to a fine of Dhs1,000, in addition to a fine of Dhs300 for the first, and Dhs3,500 for the second after it was proved that they received amounts transferred to their bank accounts in a manner that indicated the illegality of their source, as part of a series of transfers resulting from a crime of electronic fraud against an Arab woman.

In detail, an Arab woman filed a report stating that she had been defrauded adding that she had received a call from an employee of the bank in which she had her account stating that suspicious financial transfers had been made from her account to multiple accounts, which prompted the bank to freeze the account and inform the police.
