Dubai Airport unveils world's first AI-powered passenger corridor

In a move that represents a quantum leap in the world of smart travel, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, announced the launch of an Al-powered corridor service for passenger entry at the Dubai International Airport.

Passengers begin their journey by walking across the 'red carpet' to cross the passageway in a matter of seconds. This allows them to bypass passport control points without having to stop or present any travel documents. Up to ten people can cross at the same time, compared to just one passenger using traditional procedures.

Al Marri emphasised that Dubai Airport, the world's busiest airport for international flights for the 11th consecutive year, is more than just a transit point: it is a vibrant gateway and a proud showcase for the UAE, through which millions of people travel to different continents.

He added that the new service is the first of its kind in the world, forming part of an integrated system that brings the 'travel without borders' experience within reach of travellers.

Al Marri explained that the GDRFA works in accordance with a long-term vision, predicated on the integration of state-of-the-art technologies to ensure seamless transit, whilst maintaining the highest standards of security. It was highlighted that the future of travel would see the gradual abandonment of traditional documents, as passport inspections have become fully automated using artificial intelligence systems. These systems refer any questionable passport directly to forgery experts.
