China's consumer inflation rises over 1%

BEIJING: The consumer price index (CPI) of China - a main gauge of inflation - increased 1.3 per cent YoY last month, driven by the effects of the Spring Festival holiday, official data showed.

The core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, increased 1.8 per cent year on year, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Data also revealed that the producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, went down 0.9 per cent year on year last month, with the decline narrowing continuously, the NBS noted, reports Xinhua news agency.
