23 die of rabies in seven months as stray dog menace rises

Stray dog menace is reaching alarming proportions in Kerala even as the Supreme Court taking a serious note on increasing rabies death and ordering Delhi authorities to provide shelter for street dogs recently.
According to government sources, 23 people died of rabies in the state in the first seven months of 2025, nearly half of them caused by stray dogs and puppies. Between August 2024 and July 2025, over 300, 000 dog bite cases were reported in the state.
