Rescue mission ends in war of words over Parliament’s protocol

What began as an act of compassion, turned into a political flashpoint yesterday, after Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury arrived at Parliament with an unexpected companion — a dog she says she rescued on the way.

According to multiple media reports, Chowdhury spotted the dog near a collision site while driving to the first day of the Winter Session of parliament. Afraid the dog might be run over, she picked it up and brought it along in her car. Before entering Parliament, she sent the animal home with her staff.

But what should have been a heartwarming moment quickly spiralled into controversy.
