Can husband claim life insurance taken in UAE if wife dies abroad?

My wife and I took out a life insurance policy in the UAE payable to either of us in the event of the other's death.

After paying some premiums, my wife died in her home country. I claimed the insurance amount, but the company refused to pay saying it was not convinced by the death certificate issued in my wife's home country. What procedure should be followed in this case?
