Abu Dhabi designates routes to ensure safe e-scooter rides

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi has designated specific areas where electric scooters (e-scooters) may be used.

Riding them is permitted on internal roads with speed limits of less than 40 km/h only in areas specified by the Integrated Transport Centre, dedicated bicycle and e-scooter lanes, shared pedestrian and cycling paths, and closed areas in Public parks with dedicated lanes.

Areas have been designated in places such as Al Reem Island, Al Maryah Island, Al Zahiya, Al Dana, parts of Al Bateen, Corniche and Marina.
