CONCERNS OVER ROAD SAFETY AND THE IMPACT SHOP WOULD HAVE ON TRADE IN THE TOWN

- By IVAN MORRIS POXTON

A DECISION has been reached on a proposed new convenience store in Brigg.

A planning application had been made to get permission for the change of use of the former home of a car dealership into a convenience store.

Planning officers recommended refusal, with road safety concerns prominent in their reasoning.

Scores of residents had objected too, with the store set to have been located off Bigby Road, right by Monument Roundabout.

North Lincolnshire Council's planning committee unanimously agreed to refuse the proposed convenience store.

An application document indicates it would have been a Budgens franchise store, with intended 7am to 10pm opening hours.

One objector highlighted Brigg Town Council's opposition to the proposal. "The site is within a designated Conservation Area in Brigg," he also noted, before detailing concern about traffic congestion.
