Councillors to decide on convenience store licence

A DECISION WILL BE MADE AFTER REPRESENTATIONS BY THE POLICE AND TWO RESIDENTS
COUNCILLORS are to decide on a premises and alcohol licence for a proposed new convenience store in Grimsby, with sale of alcohol conditions a key sticking point.
The decision is being made by councillors after representations by Humberside Police's Chief Constable and two residents.
The licence is sought for a Today's convenience store at the corner of Alexandra Road, where it meets Frederick Street, in West Marsh.
It includes provision to sell alcohol from 6am to midnight each day, and late night refreshments after 11pm.
The applicant Sutharshini Ltd, via its licensing consultant JL Licensing, has agreed a host of conditions with police for the licence.
These range from CCTV, to deliveries to the shop to be arranged at hours that would not cause a public nuisance, to implementing the Challenge 25 scheme.
But no agreement could be reached on three conditions related to the sale of alcohol.
