GLOUCESTER youngster Afolabi Fasogbon was a surprising omission as England head coach Steve Borthwick has named a 36-man training squad for this weekend's match against a France XV.

Fasogbon has been a regular in the England training squads recently along with Cherry and Whites team-mates Charlie Atkinson, Seb Atkinson and Arthur Clark, who have all retained their places in the squad.

But the return of players from Prem finalists Bath and Leicester has seen Fasogbon among the casulaties.

From the finalists, Charlie Ewels, Joe Heyes, Ted Hill, Guy Pepper, Will Muir, Max Ojomoh, Ben Spencer, Freddie Steward and Jack van Poortvliet were all named, along with Bath's former Sir Thomas Rich's School pupil Sam Underhill, who missed the final due to suspension.
