Opticians raise £1,400 for local charities after store relaunch

AN OPTICIANS in Maesteg has raised £1,400 for two local charities - Caerau Men's Shed and Special Families Maesteg - by donating £5 from every eye test carried out over a two-week period.

The fundraiser was organised by Specsavers Maesteg's directors Brian Borland, Ewan Thomas and Richard Dyson as part of the store's relaunch following a £160,000 renovation.
The six-figure investment was made to improve the store's service and increase capacity by revamping the shop floor layout and adding two new dispensing desks and a dedicated contact lens area.
