Go George bomb attack victims left in limbo

Nearly three years after a targeted petrol bomb attack on a Go George bus in Pacaltsdorp left commuters with severe, life-changing injuries, the burn victims are still waiting for justice and compensation.

Die ontploffing het 11 onskuldige passasiers met lewensveranderende beserings gelaat, maar tot op hede moet die oortreders nog tot verantwoording geroep word, terwyl die busmaatskappy, George Link, geen verantwoordelikheid vir die pyn en lyding wat die slagoffers verduur het, getoon het nie.

Slagoffers voel verlate

Verlede week het vyf van die slagoffers, Louwina Meiring (29), Michelle Twig (35), Frederick Jantjies (53), Chrystal Jonck (27) en Deon Adams (59), aan die George Herald gesê hulle voel verlate.

Afgesien van berading en die af en toe voedselpakkie, het geen finansiële vergoeding hulle ooit bereik nie. Gesinne het hul broodwinners verloor, terwyl ander met mediese rekeninge gesukkel het.

Meiring, een van die ergste oorlewendes, het byna haar lewe verloor toe die bom in haar skoot beland het. In 'n desperate poging om die tuisgemaakte bom weg te slinger, het sy verskriklike brandwonde aan haar hande en gesig opgedoen.
