'n Ontvoering, 'n gewaagde ontsnapping en 'n hartverskeurende terugkeer huis toe - hierdie laaste paar dae was niks minder as traumaties vir Bettie, 'n wit boelterriër wat op Maandag 23 Junie uit haar erf in Eden gesteel is.
Volgens haar eienaar, Leomy Botes, was sy en haar vriend, Brendon Mitchell, vir middagete tussen 12:00 en 12:35 by die huis, toe Bettie nog vrolik was en vir haar bederfie gewag het. Maar skaars drie ure later het alles verander.
Kort ná 15:00 het Mitchell vir Leomy 'n boodskap op Bergsig-buurtwag se WhatsApp-groep, oor 'n wit boelterriër wat in Levallia gevind is, gestuur. Leomy het dadelik geweet dis haar Bettie.
Volgens inligting het twee verdagtes vanaf die huis in Eden, met Bettie tot in Levallia gestap, waar lede van die polisie toevallig op patrollie was. Buurtbewoners het gesien hoe die twee mans in 'n straat met Bettie stap net toe die polisie om die draai kom. Die mans het onmiddellik laat spat en Bettie agtergelaat.
